Leadership Academy Recruitment Opens Leadership Academy Recruitment Opens

Do your HOA officers and board members need some “basic training” on how an HOA is supposed to work? The city of Casa Grande is pleased to announce that The Leadership Centre is offering a six-session HOA Academy in Casa Grande beginning in February. The Leadership Centre has provided training opportunities for HOAs in the East Valley for many years.

Classes are FREE for Casa Grande residents, $10 for non-Casa Grande residents. Sessions are planned from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers located at 510 E. Florence Blvd., Casa Grande, AZ 85122.

CLASS SCHEDULE/COURSE DESCRIPTION

February 8, 2012 - HOA 101
An overview of the responsibilities and challenges associated with running a neighborhood or homeowner association. Obligations of the board of directors, mem¬bers, committees, employees, professional advisors, and vendors will be reviewed.

February 22, 2012 - Legal Aspects of HOAs
This class will provide participants with a practical foundation of the legal components of homeowner associations. This includes creation and enforcement of codes, covenants and restrictions (C, C & Rs), legal jurisdictions and obligations of HOAs, and rights of homeowners.

March 7, 2012 - Budgets, Financial Statements & Reserves
This class will cover fiduciary responsibilities, reserve amounts, budgets and audits.

March 21, 2012 - CC & Rs
What is good policy? Can they be changed? This class will discuss how to enforce Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions with fairness.

April 4, 2012 - How to Conduct Successful & Peaceful Meetings
Topics include: how to address security issues, creating an agenda that will work for you, ground rules, ice breakers and keeping minutes.

April 18, 2012 - Selecting a Management Company & Other Vendors
This class teaches the steps in selecting a management company and other impor¬tant vendors who work for the association (landscape companies, pool maintenance, etc.), how to determine specifications, request bids, review and analyze bids and make final selections.

Application Application

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2012 installment of the City of Casa Grande Leadership Academy. The Leadership Academy is a focused, in-depth look at the city and its operations in eight sessions spread over approximately 13 weeks. The 2012 Academy will be the ninth installment of the learning opportunity which has been held each year since 2003 (with the exception of 2007). Joining the City of Casa Grande again in partnership sponsoring the 2012 event is Arizona Public Service Company, which has sponsored the event since its inception.
