Waste Tire Recycling Drop-Off Center Waste Tire Recycling Drop-Off Center

The Pinal County Material Recovery Center accepts waste tires from all Pinal County residents, including City of Casa Grande residents. Unwanted vehicle passenger tires can be dropped off for recycling at this state approved waste tire recovery site. There is no charge for up to five tires per person per year. Additional tires are charged a fee of $1.00 per tire. There is a $5.00 charge for each tire with a rim.

The Material Recovery Center is one of Arizona’s approved and funded waste tire collection sites. Waste tires are prohibited by state law from being disposed in landfills, and are not accepted at the Casa Grande landfill. Twenty-one children from kindergarten to fifth grade, who are in need of help and live within the city limits, are selected by the Casa Grande Elementary School District. Families are then contacted and given information about the annual back-to-school program. Through various fundraisers by the officers and nonsworn staff, and a grant from Walmart, each child receives a $100 gift card to shop with.

Census Quality Assurance Operation Census Quality Assurance Operation

The U.S. Census Bureau is committed to producing a complete and accurate count of the population. As we begin to wrap up the non-response follow-up phase, the 2010 Census remains not only on schedule, but also significantly under budget. However, the 2010 Census is not over yet. In addition to systematic quality checks of all census takers’ work over the last several months, this summer marks the peak of our efforts to ensure the data we collect are as complete and accurate as possible. While quality assurance is an on-going part of the 2010 Census, three major operations occur this summer, which means some households will be called or visited again by a census worker.

  • The Census Bureau systematically reinterviews five percent of all the households visited by census takers to confirm that every one of our 565,000 census takers followed our training and did their jobs correctly.
  • Currently, we’re calling about 7.5 million households that have responded to the census to clarify any confusion about who should be counted at that address. We want to make sure we are not double-counting people or leaving people out.
  • With one of the highest vacancy rates in recent years, we’ll visit households that we believe are vacant to double-check that we are not missing anyone.
  • We will also verify the location of addresses provided on Be Counted forms or telephone interviews that are not already on our address list, to ensure we’re counting the residents in the correct location.
  • If yours is one of the small percentage of homes re-interviewed, called or visited this summer during our quality assurance operations, please, take a few minutes with the census taker and help us ensure the quality of the 2010 Census.
Mid-Year Low Cost Clinic a Success Mid-Year Low Cost Clinic a Success

The City Of Casa Grande Animal Care and Adoption Center held their annual mid-year event and serviced 174 pet owners in 3 and half hours. It was a hot Saturday as pet owners started to get in line at Gilbert Park and by 8 AM there were over 50 folks in line. The service was extended by an hour or more to accommodate all who were in line. Linda Ericson, Animal Care supervisor, extends a big thank you to all of the volunteers who make events like this worthwhile.
To all of our residents who were so patient waiting for the chance to save money and have their pets protected and safe, we add our thanks.
